Pisac Market, Peru – 2012 (Oil)

From the time I was a child I have loved drawing, painting, writing poems and basically creating. I longed to try every kind of craft I could get my hands on. In high school, I enjoyed designing and painting sets for the school plays and musicals. I was also lucky enough to have a great art teacher who taught me many things including silk screening, which was the method I used to create many of the programs and posters for school events. Unfortunately adult life then got in the way and creativity took a back seat, until I met a wonderful woman who told me she taught art lessons at her home. I had always wished to try my hand at oil painting, so at the age of 40 I decided it was now or never. After many years of working in oils I then began painting in watercolors and truly love both mediums. I only paint subjects that move me, mostly in a realistic fashion, but not always. I love creating oil paintings with palette knife only, which tends to loosen things up. I believe that painting truly comes from the soul, thus I feel there is a part of me in every painting I create.
