Artist Statement

My paintings are abstract, non-representational, mixed-media art. In my paintings, I work with ordinary materials and transform them into 3D texture on the canvas. I use a layering technique for both texture and colors.

Biography

"Shattered"

“Shattered”

Rachel Tirosh has been working as an artist since 2005 when she left the high tech industry.

Her work is defined by its rich texture and the use of a simple color scheme. With pigment, water and glue she accentuates the texture on the canvas. Her specialty is using everyday materials and transforming them into 3D textures on the canvas. The results are abstract, non-representational, mixed-media art. She stops the layering process when the painting is presenting itself to her.

Rachel is a self taught artist. After working in the high tech industry as an electronics design engineer for 18 years, she took classes and experimented with a variety of art media including painting, collage, papier-mâché, mosaic, clay-print, photography and computer-digital-design.
