Peninsula Arts Council - 2010 Board of Directors

BILL BLODGETT, LLB, MBA
Secretary

Bill has had a lifelong interest in classical music.  He started playing the trumpet in elementary school.  In middle school he switched to the french horn, which he continued in high school, playing in the orchestra and the band.

Houston was his home for many years, where he held season tickets to the opera for 15 years.  Moving to the Bay area 13 years ago, Bill found Music at Kohl Mansion.  He has served on the MAKM board and on several committees during the past 7 years.  MAKM is noted for its chamber music series in an intimate setting.  It also brings quality chamber music groups to elementary schools on the Peninsula, with the goal of allowing children to hear live classical music.  MAKM also provides community outreach with free performances at the San Mateo public library, and elsewhere.  In addition, MAKM sponsors master classes with nationally known chamber music groups mentoring local middle and high school chamber music groups.
Bill graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in political science.  He earned a law degree from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from the University of Houston.  He is licensed to practice law in Texas and California.

Bill practices real estate law on the Peninsula.  He is Secretary of the Peninsula Arts Council, and volunteers as a docent with the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District to teach children about nature.
Bill was recently married. He and his wife Marcia live in Foster City.
